FAQ
Yes. Anyone writing for the public needs an editor. Best-selling authors, professors, speakers and even small businesses have editors. It is a good practice to establish before releasing any work into the world.
That would depend on how clean your manuscript is and the route you want to take for publication. We can help you determine what you need with a sample edit. You can reach out to us through our contact us form.
The first way to ensure your work remains secure is to vet the potential editor prior to hiring them. You can also register your work with the copyright office. In the case of Global Bookworms, we include a clause in our contract which specifically protects your work.
We do promote your book in our recent projects, your feedback of our services and may use a page or two from your book with our editing notes to show a small sample of our work to potential clients. If you are not comfortable with any of that, we have a designated space where you can opt out of these business promotions in our contract.
The cost of each service is based on two things, the word count of your manuscript and the intensity of editing required. We determine how much editing your manuscript will require from a sample edit and the word count by highlighting the entire manuscript, which includes but is not limited to:
- Foreword
- Dedication page
- Copyright page
- Table of contents
- Acknowledgements
- Index
- Reference page
- Glossary
- Notes
- Author Bio
- List of Author's previous work
No. We know that hiring a professional editor can be an expensive investment, one of several if self-publishing, and our passion is helping authors put their best books forward, so we offer fair pricing for the work accomplished and payment plan options.
We have bundled services that offer 15% - 20% off the typical cost of hiring us for each editorial service individually. If you don't see the exact bundle you are needing, reach out to us and we'd be happy create a custom bundle for you.
When you send payment to one of our accepted forms of payment, it stays in that third party account until that editing phase have been completed. Only when we have accomplished that editing phase will we pull the funds. We also have sections in our contract that protect both you, as a client, and us, as the service provider.
We accept payments through GPay, CashApp, Venmo, and PayPal.
No. The only "AI" used is what already comes with the Word program, Google Docs, PowerPoint and Adobe PDFs. We do not run your manuscript through any programs to do the editing for us. Every stage of editing is meticulously accomplished by a real person.
Turnaround time varies based on the service(s) purchased, the manuscript word count, and the intensity of editing required. Our typical turnaround time is between 15-30 days or 30-60 days dependent upon the individual service. Bundled services will have a longer turn around time. Though editing is a time-consuming process with turnaround times measured in weeks and months, the final product can transform a good novel into a great one.
In developmental editing and line editing we specialize in fiction, specifically crime, thriller and suspense, romance, paranormal/supernatural, and Christian fiction. Each service page has a more comprehensive list of some genre blends we work with.
In copyediting we will accept adult fiction, young adult fiction, middle-grade fiction and children's fiction (e.g. early readers and chapter books).
Lastly, in proofreading we will accept fiction and nonfiction.
We primarily work with adult fiction, but we have worked with YA fiction, middle-grade educational fiction, children's early readers and chapter books and several board books as well. We'd be happy to see if we're a good fit for your manuscript, so feel free to contact us.
Some genres we do not know the source material well enough to be able to provide you with our best work. However, our list of accepted genres is not all encompassing, so feel free to contact us to see if we will accept your manuscript.
