So Many Questions

A lighthouse stands illuminating an isolated part of the woods in eastern Kentucky, until the builder is found dead at the top of the light. Considered just an eccentric local landmark by many in town, Deputy Sheriff Kimble has suspicions there is more to this tragic turn of events than what meets the eye. When strange occurrences start multiplying around the lighthouse and the large cat sanctuary adjacent to it, Kimble must try to understand what evil forces are moving through the Ridge, between the dark and light.

I had tons of questions as I read this story, my curiosity was peaked from the very beginning, and the author did such as good job closing everything up that he touched upon previously and I didn’t feel like I was left hanging.

I wish I could give it 5 stars, but there were several parts that weren’t consistent with what the author had written previously. For example:

-One character was waiting for the cops to show up, wondered where they were because they’d heard the sirens but then the sirens had stopped. Then the character went back inside to wait and proceeded to check out the room they were currently in. But then some chapters later the character is saying they knew why the cops hadn’t shown up, even heard the incident and dispatch had told them to just stay where they were.

-Based on previous accounts in the story by other characters, one character’s actions didn’t follow the same lines as those accounts later in the story. Maybe it was by sheer willpower, even though it didn’t give that impression in the writing.

I enjoyed this book and have already recommended it multiple times to people who were looking for a new thriller to read, even before I finished reading it. I delighted in the story, the various characters and the chill that creeped down my spine as I read this book. Sometimes I could only read a chapter or two at a time before I needed to take a short break from sections that were a bit too intense, especially the part that made me cry. I truly appreciated the author’s writing ability to have such an effect on my person and will be looking for more books by him.

Great review with no spoilers. I don't read thrillers but will consider this is I ever decide to try!

Thank you! I do my best not to give anything away. What genres do you typically read and who are your favorite authors you enjoy?

I read historical fiction as it teaches me history and entertains me. My favorite author is Mark Twain.
