"No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting"

Doesn't Cater, Straight TalkI appreciated that the author didn't pussyfoot around people's feelings in this, rather went for the heart of the matter in a no-nonsense, direct approach that provided timely proven techniques for succeeding. When I read the section on "whiny victim", I knew I liked this guy. He states that pitying ourselves makes it possible to "throw off responsibility". Blaming everyone else for our failures enables us to play the victim. He then goes on to write: "A victim cannot win. A victim will never be a hero. A victim cannot heal or rise until he decides he no longer wants to be a victim."
Although I appreciated all points in this book, that particular section: taking responsibility and stop blaming people, really resonated. It's a lesson I have tried to teach my children, so can definitely appreciate the message. My second favorite was the section on Perseverance. Without this, it's easy to give up on those dreams, to keep fighting forward when things get rocky. As he put it: "Prepare to be tested and get ready to suffer." As an entrepreneur, I appreciate firsthand what he means and appreciated the words of wisdom to assist those struggling to keep going. Overall, it was an amazing book, well-written, with advice that anyone can put into practice.
