Exploring nature with our littlest readers
Peek Inside the Farm journeys inside hen houses, barns, and behind paddock gates. Little ones get to spy what is underneath a duck's wing and watch a tracker laying seed then making bales of hay. They also learn that some food grows above ground, below ground and even changes color. Lastly, readers explore the farm shop and see what else is made on a farm.
Peek Inside the Garden explores the creatures that are buzzing and crawling around our yards and gardens. Little ones get to lift the petals of a flower to see the bees inside collecting pollen, see a spider making a web, look at a centipede in a log pile and even a bug that walks on water. Their exploration finally takes them to look at baby birds in a birdhouse and to find some animal stealing the bird seed. Peek Inside Animal Homes digs down into a rabbit's burrow and climbs high into the tree to see a bird's nest. They walk through the desert to see a termite's home and try to spy a polar bear further north. You could keep a safe distance and watch a beaver build his lodge instead or dive into the ocean to see a hermit crab that got too big for its shell. All of these books are adorable, with flaps that little hands can explore and cutouts to 'peek' at the next page. My kids couldn't get enough when they were younger and still enjoy looking at them whenever we pull them out of storage for guests with small children. These will be in our library for many years.
