Well written......and inventive, to be sure, but I had a difficult time with the level of violence and ignorance portrayed; especially as this is a middle-grade read.
Don't know what this isFirst, get the cover re-done, it's as ridiculous as the story.
I Couldn't Quite Get Into ItFirst of all, the writing was either well done, or it wasn't, which made me have to re-read some parts for it to make sense. For example:
"A week later, I was caught behind a school bus flipping briskly through my notepad." Really? A school bus is flipping through your notepad? Anecdotal Walk......down memory lane. These stories, each no more than a page or two in length, are cute anecdotes from a life well-lived.
Very Well WrittenWith a rather unusual title and a book cover that doesn’t really make me want to pick up the book to read it, I was rather surprised by what met me when I decided to wade through this story.
That is always one of the first things I look for when I start a book: is the punctuation correct, sentences complete, tenses right, spelling good, etc., then it's on to the story.
The reason that I'm not rating this any lower is because of two reasons only: mechanically, it's nearly flawless and the humor is extraordinary (I liked his five overrated things). Otherwise, it's not that great a book.
