I appreciated what the author had to say, although I'm not certain that there was anything new here, except the approach.
Walking and getting attuned to nature and one's self, releasing stress, etc. is not a new concept.
Some of the ideas were a little bit over-the-top for me. For example, at the end when she's talking about the 10 Mindful Walks, #7 Mindful "power walking" just sounded absurd to me. Yes, I believe you can get in touch with nature and allow the beauty to wash away your stress, but to "...raise your chin...gently tighten your core, and feel your deep connection to the Earth. Imagine energy travelling from the Earth's center, up your legs and into your own core with each step." To me, having to focus to this extent can actually cause greater stress in someone, especially if this technique doesn't provide any noticeable changes in the walker (and it won't because you won't be able to feel any energy coming out of the earth's core).
Personally, if you want to relieve your stress, take that walk and simply enjoy the nature around you, allowing your mind to empty of whatever worries your have at that moment. You'll get a lot further than by forcing yourself into doing some of the techniques in this book.
Overall, it was a well-written book.
