This is a memoir of a boy groomed and assaulted by a pedophile who was a trusted member of the church, respected in the community, boy scout leader, father-figure...horrible individual who's wife seemed complicit in it all.
The story is, of course, jarring and was very well-written; however, there are times that the author got a little long-winded and repetitive. I'm certain that this was to build suspense and draw out the telling, but it did cause me to skim over some of the text (I'd read it before).
I appreciated the included statistics and signs to be aware of...although, admittedly, this is an old tale because parents and children, I believe, are a bit more wise than those from decades ago when people were a bit more trusting of someone who appeared to be a "good person" but spent way too much time and focus on young boys. Now, if that were to happen, even the kids would scream "pedo". Still, it needs telling from time-to-time to prevent anyone becoming complacent again.
