Not At All What I Was Expecting
I almost didn't read this because the cover isn't at all appealing, but fortunately the body of work is outstanding.
Witty, direct, candid and very surprising. What a life this man led. I was truly moved during his preface, because as a parent I comprehend the worry that our children will lead the lives we led, but in this case...geez.
If I were this parent, I'd be scared witless for my kid to find out: "...running unsupervised and amok around London, smoking and drinking and playing doctor and making out, already on the road to ruin." -- at the age of twelve. Compared to him, I was a saint. But it doesn't get better: drugs, dealing, etc. in college.
When I said this book is candid, I mean brutally honest. So if you decide to read this, and you really should, be prepared to be shocked...a lot. Unless you've lived a life equal and happen to be jaded.
