Don't Expect A Lot of Action
This is the story of father and son and while a slow read, it's very poignant and well-written.
The characters are brilliant in their depth and I felt immense empathy for Jacob because I also have a parent with dementia. I have yet to need to race after my mom after she's gone missing from home, for which I'm grateful for, but I still feel for him a great deal.
Not only is he having to tend to his father, but he's also having to put up with his not-so-amazing wife, Brooke. What a horrible human being! Of course, had the characters not been written so well, I wouldn't feel that way.
The dialogue was also brilliantly done. Very believable. Again, this is not an action flick. I can't even call it a slow burn. It's a slow, level read with a lot of heart and soul. Worth your time.
