A Cute and Unbelievable Tale
First published in 1938, Mr. Popper's Penguins brings us an adorable story about a family that finds themselves taking care of a penguin, that soon becomes quite a few more, and what they had to do to take care of them.
The Original Classic
I received this book when I was a teen since I loved Winnie-the-Pooh and bears in general but didn’t appreciate the humor and the way the characters were written until I read it to my kids.
The book is broken down into different sections, i.e. animals, space, money, with a brief introduction to each followed by a ton of numbered facts.
Nothing To It
The writing was good, with the occasional misspelled word, or missing word.
Example: "...have to up and down the stairs...".
...and inventive, to be sure, but I had a difficult time with the level of violence and ignorance portrayed; especially as this is a middle-grade read.
...and with some editing could really be great.
Started losing me in Chapter One
Why? Because of the infantile dialogue and writing style plus a forced plot.
My kids were so excited to read it
‘I am Proud of Who I am: I hope you are too’ Book 2 is a continuation of the books in the ‘I am Proud’ series. A total of 15 books are to be completed.
I have always loved learning about other’s cultures, countries, folk lore, etc. it doesn’t matter what it is, I find it fascinating. This book does more than that, it not only shares a piece of what is different and interesting in each country but also shows that we have similarities as well, that we all dream.
Realistic dialogue and characters
Felicia the feline and Zeus the dog go on an adventure to a place called Ehtaria.
