Interesting and skewed
The author is obviously well-educated, which made this book a decent read; however, there was the obvious slant and not-well-veiled skew against the western power, the United States
New information on an old subject
The author used terms that I'd never heard before, such as paraverbal signals and proxemics.
One of the better books to read
I like it when an author cares enough to really do their best work: grammar, punctuation, character development/interaction, realistic dialogue.
I would have named this The Six Elemental Powers, but that's just me.
Not a bad book, but...

Weird Writing Style
First, the formatting in which the dialogue is part of the paragraphs.
This book is 372 pages in length, 31 of those pages are References alone with 21 additional pages in the Appendixes with even more information.
Reminiscent of Yargo
Yargo was a book written decades ago about a woman who gets transported to an alien world and ends up changing their world inadvertently and, yes, there's the love story angle also.
Journey Into The Macabre
Clear and Succinct
I only wish I knew the author's credentials.
