Be a Global Bookworm in three easy steps:
STEP ONE: the reader's template
Each Global Bookworm will download a Word doc template, so our readers must have access to Word. This template is broken down into all the elements that make up a good review: Synopsis, Characters, Plot, Dialogue, Mechanics, and Emotional Impact. In this way, all readers can read any book in any genre and remain objective, reviewing the book on its merits and not on whether we like that type of writing or not. If you work for us, you must be able to read objectively, reviewing a book based on how well it's written. Each section of the review equates to one star, making it easy to evaluate a book's star-rating fairly. If you really hated the book, you can use the "emotional impact" section to tell the author what it was about the book that made it unappealing to you as a reader. Objectivity is still important. We will not accept "it stunk" as an objective opinion. Also, the emotional impact will only deduct one star from the book, allowing the reader to still be fair to the author's work. If you do not think you can be objective about a particular genre, pass it by.
Works of nonfiction obviously have a different standard to follow, but we got that covered also. On the template will be the option for reviewing nonfiction work.
STEP TWO: selecting your book
Reader's will be offered a selection of books in different formats: Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, Nook, .pdf, mobi, or ePub. The author will determine which format he wants the book read. When you are reviewing the list of books, only select those books that you have the ability to read. If you do not have a Kindle reader or cannot download the Kindle app, do not a select a book for Kindle. If you can't access the Kindle Lending Library, don't select a book that's available only from Kindle Unlimited. The same goes for Nook readers or downloadable books. You must have the proper tools to select the proper book. Nook and Kindle will often have a free download for readers, so check it out if you want to have more selections to choose from.
Another tool you must possess is a good command of the English language: reading and writing. We will hire readers globally, but our authors write in English. Also, we don't expect our readers to be perfect. After all, we're readers not writers, but we do expect you to put your best writing effort into all of your work.
Each book will have the number of readers needed, a synopsis so you can decide if it will be your cup of tea, and the price you'll be paid for reading that book (more pages=more pay). Better still...you will not be limited on the number of books you read in a month, as with some reading services; however, you will be limited on the length of time given to read and write your review. Readers who cannot complete an assignment within five to seven days will not be paid, the book revoked and returned to the queue for someone else to select. Since we want our readers to get paid, it's important to read and review an assignment within the time allotted.
Once you've made your selection, you'll email us a request to read. We will then provide you the book in the format requested by the author: eBook, KU, .pdf, mobi, ePub. If the author requests a reader buy the print copy, we will mail the copy to you if you accept that reading assignment. Once your book is received, your five to seven day reading clock will begin.
Readers will never purchase the book directly. It will be bought and given to each reader as a gift or a redeemable code. This will ensure readers are not returning books immediately after an assignment for a refund. Our authors deserve to be paid royalties for their work, so we will purchase and distribute the books.
STEP THREE: administrator approval
Once you've completed your reading and filled out the template, you'll return to the reader portal and upload the document as instructed. From there, an administrator will look over your work to ensure that you followed the template completely, thoroughly, and objectively. If you've missed something, don't worry, we'll give you the opportunity to complete, improve, or correct your work.
Once approved, it will be returned to you a final time. From there you will copy and paste it to the venue requested by the author (likely Amazon or B&N).
When you get the email verification that your review has been accepted by the site you posted on, let us know. We'll then verify the review has posted and will credit you the amount for reading the book.
Readers are paid monthly via PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, or Google Pay so you need to have one of these accounts to get paid. The email address for the account must match the email address used to enroll as a reader. At the close of each month, our accountants will finalize payment information for each reader. Within the first week of the next month, your payment will be sent via the method you requested when enrolling. We pay monthly to lessen the impact of fees, both to ourselves and our readers.
